INTRODUCTION

In a world of globalisation and constant innovation, organisations can no longer survive on old ways of doing things. Innovation is now recognised as the single most important ingredient in any modern economy (The Economist, 2002). So, fostering a culture of innovation is no doubt critical to the success of any organisation and more so for HR teams. One of the tools for innovation is Design Thinking.

Design thinking puts the customer (employees) at the heart of every design. This aligns very much with the core of HR – which is all about people.

Case studies of design-led HR teams show that they can provide higher levels of employee experience through the methods of design thinking which includes collaboration, co-creation, and relentless testing of ideas. As organisations navigate a world that is ever changing and complex world, HR will be required to step in and help solve problems ensuring that HR service delivery is enhanced to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
